The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

After a close game throughout, the Saints took control at the end of the game and defeated Hilton at the very end of the first overtime period. Pittsford remained undefeated with an 11-7 win over Cazenovia.

Irondequoit has a 15-9 win over visiting Ithaca while Livonia used a last minute flurry to take Rush-Henrietta in overtime. Waterloo and Midlakes played a close game, but the Indians held on to their one goal lead for the win.

In the closest game of the night, Webster Schroeder held off a late advance and defeated Churchville-Chili with a 5-4 score. The Warriors led 5-1 with six minutes remaining before the Saints attempted a late comeback with the last three goals. The Saints scored with 0:37 remaining to bring the game within a single goal.

The Warriors trailed at the start of the second quarter but scored four unanswered goals spanning into the third quarter to keep the game close. The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2014 season. Senior midfielder Eric Munn (Canandaigua) and defenseman Nick Panara (Pittsford) were named US Lacrosse Academic All Americans. Junior midfielder Kevin Hill (Thomas) along with senior attackmen Trevor Hodgins (Churchville-Chili), Justin Kesselring (Fairport-A/M) and Stephen Quinzi (Pittsford) were selected as US Lacrosse All Americans.

NOTES:  Hilton scored the game winning goal with 0:09 remaining in regulation to defeat Webster Schroeder 9-8. Schroeder scored the first goal of the contest with an unassisted goals from Blake Balcaen and Jared Griffin. Hilton then scored five unanswered goals with scoring for Zeus Doser (3), Michael Richardson and Jordan DePetres. Doser was the big scorer of the night with 4g-1a. His fourth goal of the night was the game winner.

Fairport Head Coach Mike Torrelli and Pittsford rising junior midfielderColby Barker were invited to participate in the "Nike Ride" and elite showcase for fifty top players. In its third year it features "the nation’s top lacrosse athletes squaring off during a week of unparalleled competition, training and mentorship. Over the four days they were treated to the best of Nike, learned from guest speakers that included the Thompson brothers and played games near the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.

Webster Schroeder scored the final two goals to secure an 8-6 win over Gates Chili. The Warriors took a quick, early lead, scoring five unanswered goals to start the game. Jonathan Kay scored two goals in the opening quarter to help take that lead. Jared Griffin, Blake Balcaen and Matthew Montgomery scored the reaming three goals of the opening quarter.

Churchville-Chili remained undefeated with their 8-5 win over Webster Schroeder today. This is the first time that the Saints have defeated the Warriors since 2011. Overall the series stands at 4-3 for Schroeder. The Saints didn't take their first lead until the second quarter when they scored four unanswered goals to take a 6-3 lead.

Three man-up goals during a non-releasable penalty gave Schroeder a three goal lead late in the second quarter and that was enough to hold off Spencerport`s late advance. The Warriors won 10-8 over the Rangers. The game was neck and neck before the scoring streak. Both teams alternated scoring in the first and early second quarters with Spencerport holding a 3-2 lead with 5:56 remaining in the second quarter.

The Warriors started the game off strong before the Titans scored six unanswered to end the first and start the second quarters. *+Earlier this season, Webster Schroeder lost to Fairport 4-3. In the first round of sectionals, the Warriors (#5 seed) came for revenge and defeated Fairport (#4 seed) 10-9. This was the first time that Schroeder has defeated Fairport since 2008. The Red Raiders have won the last ten contests. The game was a series of runs. Schroeder controlled both the beginning and the end of the game with Fairport making a six goals run to end the second quarter.

This year`s contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Friday, June 17th at Victor High School.
